It was a sea of Red, Black and white with cowbells ringing and mums blowing in the breeze. We celebrated homecoming this past week at CHHS. Dean was able to take advantage of the fun at the ECDC. The director, Molly, coordinated for the panther head tunnel, used at the football games, to be blown up in front of Dean’s school. She took the students outside and let them dress up in a football jersey and pose with a football. They told me that Dean has a great time chasing the “Ba” or ball around and wasn’t the least bit scared of the BIG panther head.
On Friday Matt, Dean and I participated in the faculty tail gate party and homecoming football game. We had a great time dining on the grass next to Mustang-Panther stadium. It was a BEAUTIFUL evening, the hotdogs and hamburgers were excellent, and we enjoyed the fun of football. Dean’s friend Gavin came over to hang out during the picnic and Matt and I were able to enjoy the company of my fellow counselor Leslie and her husband Wayne. Although Dean didn’t make it through the first quarter of the game, and we left early, we still had a great time rooting for the Panthers! We look forward to many more football games in our future! My first two weeks back at work were pretty brutal. I am so glad the students are back! Here’s how I survived the THOUSANDS of schedule changes…

Dean and I are back in the swing of things with school is back in session. Dean is loving his time in the infant 2 class at the ECDC. There are 7 other “students” in his class many of whom he went to school with last year.
I am thankful to return to the same position at CHHS for a second year. It’s been 3 years since I returned to the same position for a second time. I have such a homey feeling when I walk into CHHS. I love the ladies in the counseling office and feel so blessed to be in such a wonderful environment.
To kick off the school year CHHS hosts a pep rally the Saturday night before school begins. I was eager to take Dean to his first pep rally and for Matt to see my students in action. We were lucky enough to enjoy the event with a fellow counselor, Lindsey, and her husband Steven. When we got to the school we were also able meet up with the McLaren’s. Dean enjoyed his first rally experience with his friend Gavin. We are looking forward to a great football and volleyball season! Hopefully we’ll be able to attend some Friday night games. Go Panthers!
Before the school year began the counseling team went on a planning retreat to Possum Kingdom. Dean and I made the drive down on Wednesday morning and returned on Thursday morning. It was a beautiful drive into the “hill country” of North Texas. Seriously, I have never seen such beautiful landscape, hills, lakes, and rivers. I can’t wait to plan a weekend trip for Matt and I.
We worked hard and accomplished loads. We also managed to enjoy each others company, go for a swim, and make homemade pizza. It was a great start to the school year. Hopefully we’ll achieve all of the goals we set as we work towards an amazing year!
