Parr Park Play Dates #1

When the school year ended I was determined to come up with a list of activities to keep Dean and me busy all summer. I wanted there to be plenty of fun and free entertainment. So, I sent an email blast to all of my CHHS co-workers creating a weekly park play date. My thought was that we could get together and catch up on summer events while our children entertained each other. After enough sweat and sun we’d hit a nearby restaurant for lunch.

This past Wednesday we enjoyed our first park date. It was fabulous. About 7 CHHS staff members and their children attended the event. We had a great time sliding, running, sweating and then eating. Dean loved seeing his buds from school and I enjoyed striking up conversations with teachers who I don’t see on a regular basis. I’m already looking forward to our next Parr Park play date.

Swimming update

In the past few weeks Dean has progressed in his swimming skills. He will now jump into the pool and go under water. When I return him to the wall I push him under water and help him “swim” to the side. He would rather stay in the big pool now than play at the splash pad. Our little swimmer is making strides! I look froward to seeing what the rest of the summer brings.

And since no post is complete with out a picture…here’s the little fish taking a swim break!

Camp Grandmas Complete

Camp Grandmas officially came to a close on Friday, June 24th. Matt and I headed down to Houston on Thursday night and were eagerly awaiting the arrival of DT on Friday morning. Since we were headed to H town we decided to make a weekend of it. On Friday we relaxed and enjoyed being home with our little Man. Morgan and Logan joined the weekend fun on Friday evening while Layne and Amanda enjoyed a softball tournament in Louisiana. Matt and I took the kids to the park and showcased Jiff’s mad jumping skills. Mo and Lo loved helping Jiff jump over the play ground equiment. After naps Matt, Dean and I enjoyed dinner at Chuy’s with Honey and Pops. Pops had just returned from Asia and stayed awake long enough to see us. After dinner Matt and I were on babysitting duty. We showed the kids how to have some fun in the sprinkler. Evidently kids aren’t as into sprinklers as we were. They preferred water guns! We enjoyed getting to make the quick trip him and seeing the nieces and nephew and are super thankful for the week of Camp Grandmas!

Steppin’ Out

While Dean has been enjoying Camp Grandmas Matt and I have been able to enjoy two consecutive date nights. On Monday night we went to the Rangers baseball game. It was fun to enjoy hotdogs and great seats while we watched the Rangers win over the Astros.

On Tuesday night we were able to enjoy dinner and a movie. We grabbed a quick bite at Snuffers and then walked over to the theatre to see Bridesmaids. Although the movie wasn’t the best I did enjoy the relaxing time with Matt.

Thank you Honey and Grandmother for keeping Dean this week. Camp Grandmas is a wonderful gift to Matt and I!
