I’ve been working with Dean on counting objects AND puzzles. He is LOVING this hand me down caterpillar from Emma Claire. Matt and I are always amazed at the things Dean is learning from school. I feel like he is learning things I didn’t expect him to know until Kindergarten! Over the past month Dean has been singing the “Months of the Year”, “Deep in the Heart of Texas” and “God Bless America”. Man I love our ECDC teachers! God bless em!
A tailgate that was rained out… that’s right! We made plans to tailgate with some of our CHHS faculty friends before the CHHS v. GHS football game. We arranged food, brought chairs, packed toys and had high hopes of a great evening of fun and football. Unfortunately, the weather had other plans. Just as we finished eating our pizza and the kids started to play lightening shot across the sky and the rain began to fall. We quickly packed up our tailgate, put the kids in the car and headed to the Cherry house for dry shelter.
The boys were completely happy with our new party plans. They had a great time playing and watching movies together while the adults enjoyed a few beverages that our school function tailgate had been without!
The game was delayed several hours (kick off at 9:45) but the Panthers still prevailed. Go Panthers! We are going to try another tailgate later in the season. Maybe the weather will be in our favor and Dean will get to see the Panthers play! Until Then!
Sunday afternoon I was eager to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather! I convinced Matt that a hike around Lake Grapevine would be a wonderful way to end our weekend. It was a little warmer than I thought it would be…ok it was HOT! But, Dean enjoyed looking at the boats on the lake, playing fetch with Jiff in the water and seeing all of the bikers and runners on the trail. I’m excited to find the paths around the lake and look forward to our next “hiking” experience.
Dean decided that he needed a purse to carry his phone and necklace. Matt was not at all happy about his choice to carry a purse. Dean LOVED the idea of HIS purse and carried it around (at home) all day. I’m sure it’s just a phase…
One of the greatest gifts someone can give the mother of young children is the gift of time! Carla and Ronny were generous enough to take Dean home the week of August 1st. They played with, loved on and took care of DT while I worked countless hours at CHHS. I was able to go to work and not have the added stress of Dean’s needs. Words can not express the awesomeness of this gift!
On Friday morning Glenda and I headed to Houston to get my boy back. We had a nice weekend at the lake shopping and hanging out with mom and dad. We made it back on Saturday just in time for dinner.
I feel like I’m in a good place going into my 2nd week of work. I’m happy to have my baby back at home. Most of all I am thankful for Dean’s loving Grandparents and their gift of time. Thank you Honey and Pops!
