Last week for administrative appreciation week one of the teaches presented us with pints of ice cream! Ah, what a sweet thought. I grabbed a carton of low fat sherbet from the basket and enjoyed a walk down memory lane.
My grandmother, Granny, always served us Sherbet at her house. I remember eating bowls of bright orange sherbet out of her cream colored flowered dishes with my brother and sister. Something about the taste of the sherbet last week brought all of those memories back. It brought me back to summer days, picking up pecans in the back yard or playing for hours in the creek, taking walks to the park, going to the store and picking out one special toy, and countless hours of puzzles and games. It brought back summer nights at Granny & Pops house, sitting on their shaggy carpet, watching television fresh from a bath, in the pink bathroom, and eating cold orange sherbet. And finally memories of snuggling down in the clean crisp sheets of the “Big bouncy” bed and giggling with my sister.
I have exercised great restraint and have made my pint last. I take a spoonful here and there and enjoy the moments of peace, the glimpses of my childhood as the yummy treat melts on my tongue. As you can see I’ve almost finished the pint. Maybe it’s time for a trip to Granny & Pops – I bet they will have some sherbet waiting!
Hello there! I’m trying something new to me! I, by no means, am a photographer but did add photography skills and photo editing to my list of new years goals. A few of my friends and fellow bloggers do this fun little photo project each month called Ten on Ten. You take 10 photos, every hour for 10 hours on the 10th of each month (I also took mine on the 10s of the hour)! In order to stretch my skills I decided to give it a try! This month I took all my photos with my new iPhone 4! It was so much fun and a great way to learn to use my camera. So, some of the pictures are not that great but, I’ll work on improving my skills in the future…hopefully!
I’ve been having an affair…I admit it. I look forward to the greeting I have received each morning from Mr. Cuisinart. His warm, strong coffee is the first thing that I think of when I wake up, and is an integral part of getting my day started. Sadly, Mr. C. passed away. He was one of the first wedding gifts we received, and the first to give up on us too. My morning continues to start; I’ve found a new love affair but I didn’t want the passing of one of our first wedding gifts to go unaccounted. R.I.P Mr. Cuisinart. Thank you for serving me so many delicious cups each morning.
I am pleased to say that I have survived my first semester as a high school counselor. I LOVE working at CHHS and have a terrific team of people who support me and worked tirelessly supporting my students while I was on maternity leave.
Last week things were a little stressful in the counseling office as we prepared for the spring semester, in efforts to provide some stress relief I picked Dean up from school early and brought him to the school. He loved seeing all my friends and they appreciated the stress relief, it was a win-win situation!
