This year Dean was a fire fighter for Halloween. He loved wearing his costume and playing the part of a fire fighter. On the Saturday before Halloween we grabbed a bite at Freebirds, in costume. They were kind enough to give free kids meals for those in costume. So of course I had to take advantage! After our yummy dinner we headed to the Compass Roanoke carnival. The carnival was held on the church property. Dean had a great time playing games and jumping in bounce houses. The weather was nice and cool – perfect for this fighter and his warm costume.
On Monday morning the ECDC held its annual costume parade. Dean’s class made Cat costumes. It was fun to see the children march around the school in their costumes. They were all so proud of their creations!
On Monday afternoon we hit up chick-fil-a (again free kids meals) with Gavin, Miranda and Matt. The boys enjoyed their nuggets and playing on the playground with all of the other excited, costume clad children. After fueling up we took the boys to the Compass Colleyville carnival. They loved every minute of it! There were more inflatables, horse rides, tons of games and a puppet show! The boys were in heaven. On our way home we made one special trick-or-treat stop by Glenda and Bills. They had bags full of treats of the boys. Of course both boys had to open their treats, enjoy a snack or two and put on a show of excitement for the Cherry family! Miranda, Matt and I brought home two very tired boys! Halloween 2011 was the best yet! We’re off to fight more fires! Until then!
Yesterday a package of special sand toys arrived for Dean. He was so excited about this little watering can that was in the box. As soon as he woke up he wanted to know if he could water the plants. Never mind the frost on the ground. Dean wanted to garden! Here’s a pic of my little gardener. Each plant lovingly watered to perfection!
I’ve been working with Dean on counting objects AND puzzles. He is LOVING this hand me down caterpillar from Emma Claire. Matt and I are always amazed at the things Dean is learning from school. I feel like he is learning things I didn’t expect him to know until Kindergarten! Over the past month Dean has been singing the “Months of the Year”, “Deep in the Heart of Texas” and “God Bless America”. Man I love our ECDC teachers! God bless em!
I am beginning to realize that DT may not share my love for mornings. When I went to wake him up on Friday he picked up his pillow and put it over his head. Guess he was trying to tell me he needed to hit the snooze button.
Dean and I have made 2 more trips to the Pumpkin Farm since our trip with the CHHS staff. Dean and I went last Saturday while we were out running errands and played for a few minutes before our mother-son lunch. THen we were invited by Glenda to go again last Thursday. We have so much fun each time we go. Last Thursday Dean was able to watch them cook a batch of Kettle Corn. He loved watching the corn pop out of the pot. He also picked out a few pumpkins and came home with his own bag of pop corn. I think we will really miss the pumpkin farm next week. I guess it gives us something to look forward to for next October! Until Then!
