Dean’s first trick or treating experience was fantastic. Miranda and Gavin picked us up and we made a trip over to Glenda and Bills for our first stop of the evening. The boys scored big time with match box cars, a ball, goldfish and ritz bits. The boys couldn’t wait to open their treats and play with everything. Needless to say we had to spend a little time playing in the yard with cars and balls before loading the boys back into the car.
After we got home we made a trip to our neighbor Sharon’s house. She and her dog Cody were waiting for us on the porch. Dean grabbed a few great pieces of chocolate, gave Cody a few pats and took off for the next house. After all of our trick or treating adventures he really had the hang of it. And, who could resist this way too cute spider?
Last night Dean picked up his buckets again and asked to go trick or treating. Poor guy thought it was a nightly ritual. Sadly I explained he’d have to wait until next year to play again.
We’re gearing up for a big Birthday party weekend in Houston. Check back for pics soon. Until Then!
Saturday night we were invited over to Dave and Miranda’s to watch game 3 of the world series. Ranger fever is huge in Dallas and they thought we might enjoy being part of the action. Matt and Dave made the trek to Rudy’s for some yummy barbecue to pair with our game watching. Although I didn’t get any great pictures I wanted to document the fact that we have come a long way in our dinner evenings. All 4 adults sat and ate dinner at the same time this weekend and 2 boys happily played around us. Granted there were a few moments where Dean hit, pinched or choked Gavin and a few toys sharing fiascos but all in all a great evening.
sharing a tunnel…it’s all fun until someone gets choked!
I think I’ll take this chair, you big guys can sit on the floor
One of the things we love about living near Grapevine is all of the festivities on Main Street. Friday night the town hosted a Halloween carnival of sorts complete with food, games and trick or treating. After grabbing a quick burger with our DFW family we headed over to Main Street. Miranda and I had purchased Dean and Gavin matching spider outfits for this Halloween. We know that this will be one of the few years we will have control over their costumes and wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to score a few photo ops.
Dean loved seeing all the costumes and hearing the music. He and his spider pal Gavin had a great time checking out the fire truck, trolling for candy, and playing with pumpkins. The stores were so crowded that we didn’t do much trick or treating but did have a great time checking out the scene. We also met up with 2 other CHHS co-workers and their children and saw my buddy James and his 2 week old baby Jack.
It was a fun outing for the family but did get a little dark and crowded once the sun went down. We plan to arrive at 6PM sharp next year in order to finish our evening shortly after dark. Until Then!
Halloween weekend brought lots of fun for Dean. His weekend kicked off with a Halloween costume parade and trick or treating at the ECDC. Dean’s class dressed up as lady bugs. Their homemade costumes consisted of wings, antenna and a black and red polka dotted shirt. They were way too cute! It was so much fun for Matt and I to watch Dean in his school environment and see him with his friends.
After the ECDC parade Dean made a stop by CHHS and scored more candy in the administrative offices. The boy had the game all figured out!
