Today Dean and I were invited over to Janice Brown’s house to swim and eat lunch. Janice works at CHHS and has a granddaughter five months older than Dean. Miranda, Gavin and Glenda were also invited for the fun. We had a great time watching the children play, reminiscing about old toys (Janice had saved all of her children’s toys for her grandchildren), and eating…way too much! The kids played really well together and entertained themselves so that the adults could have a few minutes to talk. Dean enjoyed the morning so much that he fell asleep on the way home! Thanks for the invitation Janice. We look forward to playing with Cassidy again soon.
I love getting to stay home with Dean during this summer break. It is so much fun to sit back and watch him explore his world. I particularly enjoy Dean’s night time routine. After eating dinner I’ll ask him if he wants to play in the bubbles. Dean responds with a very enthusiastic “Bubuls” and heads right for the bathtub. After a good soak, scrub, and playtime Dean cuddles up into a towel and lays his wet little head on my chest. It’s one of those melt your heart moments. My busy boy has taken a moment to rest and cuddle with me. After wrestling him into his PJs we head to the kitchen for some milk and books. Dean takes off for the couch after I give him his milk saying, “book”, “book”, “book”. Like I’ve somehow forgotten what we do every night! We typically read about 4 books while Dean slowly unwinds and sinks further and further into the couch. After the last book I pick him up for one last good snuggle and carry him off to bed saying night night to everything along the way. And then he screams! Ah, it was peaceful for a moment… I love that little man and his evening routine. Goodnight moon, goodnight air, goodnight noises everywhere.
Here’s my little sleeper…the pictures not the best but I figure I get props for sneaking in his room and taking one in the first place. I quietly prayed that he would not wake up the entire time I was in there.
Dean helped me in the yard this morning. He worked hard sweeping the water, analyzing the plants, and putting out the sprinkler. Such a big helper to his Mama!
Dean is also working on manners. He uses his fork, spoon and napkin. He still throws treats on the floor for Jiff but one thing at a time right?
My friend Jana was in town for a work conference and came to spend the night with us. It was such a treat to have 24 hours with her. Matt was very kind and took care of Dean so we could enjoy the evening sitting and talking. We started our afternoon with guacamole and margaritas and then left for dinner at Lava Grill. After some very fresh and yummy sushi we returned home to get some sleep. Saturday morning was very relaxing. We sat, drank coffee, talked, and talked some more and then ate some very incredible veggie wraps. After lunch Jana had to head back to Houston and her hubby Derek. I’ll see her again in a few weeks when I head to Houston but, I totally enjoyed the opportunity to spend a few hours together. Thanks for coming by my friend. I look forward to the next visit!
