BBQ, Lake life, sunshine, family and fun! Summer is upon us and so is Memorial Weekend. We were able to celebrate the holiday weekend at the lake with my family and tons of friends. My parents hosted two different groups during the weekend, had 20 people spend the night Saturday night and provided countless hours of fun and entertainment. We were especially glad that Mason, Adam and Genie could join the fun this year and hope that they will come back for another visit soon. Memorial weekend was busy but fun. I look forward to our next trip to the lake. The R & R is calling my name! Until Then!
Dean has been adding to his vocabulary daily. Yesterday we were getting ready for school and Dean was feasting on a breakfast of bananas and pancakes. We were running late, as usual, and I tried to help Dean along by eating a bite of his banana (nothing like eating your kids food so they will hurry up and finish). After popping the piece into my mouth and walking away Dean yelled, “No Mine!”. It was a great moment. Not that I want Dean to declare ownership of all things he considers his but because he used a sentence that I could understand at the appropriate time! Matt and I are realizing that we no longer have a baby but a big boy. My heart breaks to think that he’s grown past the baby stage but I eagerly look forward to what the future holds. Until Then!
On Sunday morning we decided to take an early morning stroll to the park. There is an elementary school near our house with a playground that I was eager to check out. I was excited to find that the playground had swings, a great play structure and it was covered with a huge shade cloth. Dean and Jiff had a great time playing. There was an abandoned soccer ball which provided the opportunity for us to work with Dean on kicking. I believe we will spend many summer mornings and evenings playing at this park.
Our dear friends the Schafers are moving to Kentucky. We are sad to see them go but excited about the opportunities that lay before them. Before we could send them away we had to have one last night of Cranium. The score was tied one to one and required a tie breaking round to determine who the Cranium champions were. After a stop at Yogurt Story for some pregame nourishment the girls dominated the boys in two games. So, please let it me known and the GIRLS are the Schafer/Hopkins Cranium Game Champions!!! Girls rule!
