We had the opportunity to babysit Dean’s friend Gavin Saturday morning. It is so much fun to watch the boys play. They have really started interacting. I can only wonder what they are thinking and talking about.
Here’s Dean’s friend Gavin

Dean: Hey buddy, I’m stuck can you give me a push?

Gavin: Yeah but it looks like you’ve got a problem with your truck. We’re gonna have to fix it.

Dean: Ok, I’ll pull and you push. We are going to have to look for something to fix it with.

Gavin: You found anything yet?
Dean: Still looking

Dean: High Five brother, we did it!
Gavin: YAY!

Earlier in the month my friend Becky wrote and said that she would be in Texas on business and wanted to get together! I was so excited that she would choose me to see while she was in town. Becky and I met in October of 2000 when I went to Chicago to study youth ministry at Willowcreek. Becky and I bonded instantly as the only two American girls who also happened to be from Texas. We have kept in touch over the years through email and Facebook but rarely see each other. We met for dinner at Pappasitos (yum) in Dallas. Our 3 hour long dinner was just what I needed. It was so nice to catch up with a friend and just talk. Towards the end of our meal Becky shared with me that she had recently been appointed to New Horizons United Methodist church in Woodward, Oklahoma as their Senior Pastor. Becky’s journey to this position is an amazing story and I am excited for her opportunity. I and look forward to watching NHUMC change and grow under Becky’s vision and guidance. I know there are greater things in store for this congregation. Be blessed my friend! I look forward to our next visit, hopefully sooner than later!

We had planned to head to Humble on Friday afternoon for Emma Claire’s birthday party at Jumping Joeys. Evidently Dean had other plans. Our poor baby woke up sick on Thursday morning. A stomach virus that resulted in 24 hours of nastiness along with fever. We were very sad that we had to miss Emma’s amazing Princes Party but decided to remain home as to not spread the germs.
Emma Claire, we can’t believe you are 4 years old. Your Uncle Matt and I hope this 4th year of life is amazing and that you are able to learn something new everyday! We love you!

On East Sunday morning we were a bit rushed trying to get everyone ready for church. Matt and I had decided to attend The Village church but were sorely disappointed when we arrived and learned that the service was full and we had to be turned away. We drove the 30 minutes back home and along the way we decided to attend FUMC Grapevine and stopped for a bagel to kill some time. Dean enjoyed his bagel breakfast while Matt and I sipped some coffee. It was finally time for us to try our hand at church for a second time! We enjoyed the experience and were able to snap a few Easter pictures with Glenda and Bill on our way out of the service.
Since Matt and I were staying in DFW for Easter this year we decided to steal and idea from our friends Patrick and Myra and host an Easter lunch. We invited our friends the McLarens as well as Leslie and Wayne Walden to join us for lunch. Everyone brought food to share, we enjoyed a wonderful lunch and a time of great conversation afterward. After we ate we even initiated our guests into the tradition of Carrot Pictures. We abstained from the traditional carrot fight thinking that the carrot picture might be a stretch for these friends. We’ll keep working on them and maybe in a few years (when Gavin and Dean are older) we will get the carrot fighting going! I enjoyed spending the holiday with some of our Ft. Worth friends, it helped us not miss home too much!
*** Pictures coming soon!!!**
