A Visit From Papa & Grandmother

Posted in Uncategorized at 8:48 pm by winz

Dean had two very important visitors this past weekend. Matt and I were invited to attend an engagement party and needed a dependable babysitter. It seemed like a great excuse for Grandmother and Papa to come for the weekend.

Matt and my dad started the weekend with a little dryer shopping. We have been needing to purchase a new one for quite a while but never managed to get around to it. While we had an extra set of hands Matt and I took advantage of making this purchase. All the boys got into the dryer installation and Dean got into the dryer box! After making my dad work we celebrated my his 60th birthday with a trip to Babes. He has never had the pleasure of the greasy yumminess that Babe’s offers. We were happy to provide the artery clogging experience.

The rest of our weekend was very low key. Matt and I enjoyed seeing my parents and Dean loved getting the extra attention. He always asks for his Papa and was a little sad when he woke up from his nap and found out he was gone.

My college roommate, Roxane, is getting married! Matt and I had the pleasure of attending their engagement party this past weekend. It was so much fun for us to meet all of Roxane’s old Sunday school friends and co-workers as well as Oren’s parents and friends. We had a great time and enjoyed having a baby free night. Congratulations Roxane and Oren. We can’t wait for the wedding.

Dr. McCoy told us to wean Dean from the bottle at his last appointment. Do you think this is what he had in mind?

Dean is developing a love for trains. While getting his hair cut on Friday he had the opportunity to play with this massive Thomas set. Pops, you should be proud!

15 Month Check Up

We took Dean for his 15 month appointment this week. He was such a trooper during the LONG appointment. Dean loves his nurse Porshia but did not enjoy the game “let’s measure your head”. Porshia had to call in reinforcements to help with the measuring.

Dean was well behaved during his exam with Dr. McCoy. Although Dean has tubes it appears our ear troubles are not over. Dr. McCoy found puss behind both ears along with clogged tubes. Ugh! Another antibiotic for DT. We had some great discussion with the doctor about Dean’s walking, vitamins, discipline, and tooth brushing.

Dr. M encouraged us to wean Dean from his bottle. Dean is ambivalent about it but I was concerned about the amount of milk he was drinking. Dean was only consuming the minimum amount of milk and giving him a bottle twice a day ensured at least 16 ounces. We have now, thanks to Honey, found a sippy cup that works better than the ones we were using. Dean has gulped water and sucked down several glasses of milk today as opposed to his sipping from the previous cups. Such a big boy!

Selfishly, I enjoy the time Dean and I spend when he drinks his evening bottle. He is such a good cuddler. I’m hoping that we’ll still have cuddle even though there isn’t a bottle.

Dean’s stats:
25 pounds 9 ounces – 50-75%
31.25 inches – 50-75%
Head-18.25 – 25%
