My Little Pony

Posted in Dean Thomas, Holidays at 7:55 pm by winz

We had a great Halloween weekend. On Friday night the Schafers came over for dinner, pumpkin carving and a trip to Hall’s Pumpkin Patch. Hall’s Pumpkin Patch is a Colleyville tradition so we thought we’d visit the patch and make it one of our traditions. There is a 8 foot tall corn maze on the property that we took full advantage of. When we began our trip through the maze we thought it would be a simple trek through the corn but, after about 30 minutes we realized that the maze was a little more difficult than we had anticipated. We enjoyed our maze experience and look forward to taking Dean back next year…and especially when he is old enough to navigate the maze for us.

After our Pumpkin Patch visit we decided to get carving on our pumpkins. I decided to paint my pumpkins but Matt and Linsey eagerly began cutting and carving. All of the pumpkins came out beautifully. I think everyone enjoyed the opportunity to get back into being a child with the fun of Halloween.

On Saturday Dean donned his pony costume all day. He was a hit everywhere we went. Everybody loved our little pony! On Saturday night Dean greeted our trick-or-treaters at the door and handed out (more like chewed on) candy. Although Dean won’t remember it I know he enjoyed his first Halloween. He’s definitely a fan of pumpkins…those big orange balls where everywhere! Matt and I look forward to enjoying the rest of the holiday season with him but first…a birthday party! Until Then!

Snip Snip Buzz Buzz!

Today Dean got his first haircut! Some might look at our little one and say, "His hair is short! No need to cut that yet." But, had they seen the mullet he was working on in the back? Not to say mullets can’t be cute, the do seem to be making a comeback. But, for now we thought a nice even look all around would suit him well for his upcoming 1yr birthday party next weekend.

He quickly claimed the red fire engine and hopped right on, ready to go. We loved our haircutter. She was fun with Dean and we felt very confident in the way she was handling him. They played a bit, cut a bit, played some more. Dean was real trooper the entire time, loving every minute of it. All in all it was a great experience and now Dean’s has the best looking ‘do in the family!

Cutie Patootie

Dean LOVES to have a bit of “free” time after his bath. When I put him down he quickly crawls away laughing the entire time. After crawling away he looks back at me as if to say “are you gonna come get me?”. Oh how I love those sweet moments. Here’s a pic of my sweet boy!

Happy Fall!

We were blessed with the most beautiful weather today. Matt, Dean and I along with Glenda and Bill decided it was perfect pumpkin weather. The Dallas Arboretum has a wonderful fall display with thousands of pumpkins – perfect photo ops for our little Dean. We spent the afternoon enjoying the sun, gazing at beautiful marigolds and chrysanthemums, and playing with pumpkins. We all had a great time, I can’t wait to do it again.

Up Up and Away

The ECDC has moved a few of Dean’s friends to the toddler class. One of the requirements of advancing to the next class is walking. I think Dean finally has some motivation to practice his foot work! He’s already missing his buddies. We are so proud!
