Behavior Modification

Posted in Dean Thomas at 7:46 pm by winz

Evidently Dean is in need of some behavior modification. Today when I picked him up from school the teacher asked that we would work with Dean by using the word “no” in a stern voice. It appears that Dean decided to “hammer” one of his friends in the head with a toy, twice! In addition his ball throwing skills seem to have transferred to other toys. When I dropped him off he began to sail toys across the room, right over the head of another friend. Who knew that we’d have such a trouble maker in daycare! Such a busy guy…we wouldn’t change it for the world!

Dean’s Frist Tooth!

Posted in Dean Thomas at 3:46 pm by winz

When I went to change Dean’s diaper today he promptly began screaming. This is pretty typical for our busy boy who would rather play in wet pants that lay down for us to change him. While he was screaming and squirming I took advantage of the moment to check his gums and found the corner of a little tooth sticking out the top of Dean’s mouth. I called Matt over to have a look as well. Yep, we do indeed think that our dear little Dean has birthed his first tooth! We know it’s been a lot of work but I’m actually a little teary eyed about it. My little baby isn’t really a baby anymore…he’s got a tooth! Sniff, sniff, sniff…

I don’t have a picture to show you but I guarantee that as soon as the little booger is out enough for me to snap a shot I’ll post it! Until Then!

Dear Dean – 10 Months

Posted in Dean Thomas, Letters to Dean at 9:52 am by winz

Dear Dean,

Today you turned 10 months and you are on the move! You have really mastered crawling and can easily move anywhere your heart desires. Needless to say life is not as relaxing as it once was for your Daddy and I. You have managed to get into our DVD/CD collection, knock over an end table and send the lamp crashing to the ground, play in Jiff’s water bowl, crawl into the dog kennel, put the plugged in cord of Daddy’s computer in your mouth – causing a little shock which you didn’t enjoy, and inspected every outlet in the house. We are having a blast chasing after you!

You eat like a champ my dear boy. So far there isn’t one thing you won’t eat. You LOVE green peas, Nutragrain bars, bananas, turkey hot dogs and pasta. Ms. Gina and Ms. Linda are always telling me how much you love to eat at school. Last Friday they fed you your first grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup. You loved them both. You are such an independent eater. We load your high chair tray up with food and you chow down. Almost all of your food makes it into your mouth – pretty impressive. You’ve also become a champ with your sippy cup. You have learned to tip your head backwards and sip away. Such a big boy!

You have learned to clap your hands and often clap when we come to get you out of your crib after your sleep, when I come to pick you up from school, and when you’ve done something you shouldn’t have and know that clapping will make Mommy and Daddy smile! You are so full of joy and love to express your happiness and excitement with smiles and clapping. You also enjoy any type of music, dancing, playing patty cake, and playing with your train and ball popping toy.

Dean you are a social butterfly. You love playing with your friends at school. When I drop you off at school you quickly surround yourselves with a group of friends and start playing away. It is so cute to watch you and 2 of your classmates pass balls back and forth. You have also started making art in class. Your artistic ability is showing – right now you have been making a lot of dots and finger print work but we can see your Van Gogh potential!

As I mentioned, you love to play with balls! You always have one or two in your hand and love to throw them to other people. You can also say the word ball or “Ba”. You love the big exercise ball. We hold you on the ball and let you work on your core. I think you’ll really enjoy a ball pit one day. We might have to put one on your Christmas wish list.

Dean Thomas you are the light of our lives. We have more fun each day and love the smiles you bring to our faces. We love you squirt!

Labor Day Weekend 2009

Posted in Dean Thomas, Family Events, Friends, Holidays at 9:07 pm by winz

Our last lake weekend of the summer is now over. Goodbye relaxing times on the boat, sunshine filled days, and mounds of delicious food. I’ll visit you again next spring when it’s boating season again.

We enjoyed our last weekend at the lake but wish it would have been a touch bit longer. Matt, Dean and I headed to Livingston on Friday afternoon after I managed to get the afternoon off so we could leave town a little early. After spending the later afternoon visiting with my parents Matt’s parents drove in for dinner. Dean was able to experience his first trip to Florida’s Kitchen. He munched on grilled catfish, chicken tenders and a baked potato. Even though the food was great I think he enjoyed the company of his doting grandmothers more.

Saturday brought fun on the boat with Jana and Derek until the thunderstorms sent us fleeing for shore. By the time we arrived back at the house Layne, Amanda, Morgan and Logan had arrived and a cookout meal of hot dogs and hamburgers were consumed. It was delicious! We also celebrated Matt and Amanda’s birthdays with yummy chocolate cake and pie.

Sadly, we had to return home on Sunday morning so Matt could work. We bid adieu to our summer of fun at the lake and look forward to next springs fun.

Childcare Possiblities

Since Matt and I don’t live near our parents we are always looking for childcare options. We thought this might work:
