Shopping & Showering in Granbury
My co-worker Leslie is getting married and to celebrate this exciting event the counseling department hosted a shower. I use the term “hosted a shower” loosely because it was more like an opportunity for everyone to get out of town and have fun for the weekend. On Saturday morning we met at CHHS and drove to Lake Granbury about an hour South West of Fort Worth. Dean and I paired up with Miranda and her 2 month old son Gavin for the trip. The babies were wonderful and slept the entire drive which provided an hour of good mom-to-mom conversation for Miranda and I. It was so nice to sit and chat with another new mom.
We were fortunate enough to have a WONDERFUL lake house available to us thanks to Glenda. The house provided 5 star accommodations with amazing views of the lake. We settled in to the house and then headed to the historical district of Granbury for lunch and shopping. At the brides request we dined at Babe’s. Now, if you haven’t been to Babes it’s a must. They pride themselves in their delicious fried chicken and amazingly great sides. I love their sweet corn and the yummy dressing they put on their salad. Once we were stuffed we walked off a few of our calories shopping the square. I managed to score a few gifts and had a great time taking in the sights and sales of Granbury.
Glenda had arranged for us to have a wine tasting at D’Vine Wine. They offered a peach chardonnay as the first wine we tasted. It was yummy, but so sweet it made the following reds seem extremely dry and bitter. I think the Peach belonged more in the dessert category. But, it was very refreshing on a hot spring day. After shopping a bit longer we headed back to the house for Leslie’s shower.
Leslie was showered with many wonderful gifts. It was nice to see some of the items she had registered for and see her excitement as she enjoys every moment of wedding bliss! Dean loved the shower part as well. He flirted, and flirted and then flirted some more. The boy is a ladies man! As you can see by the pictures he has many of the women wooed by the end of the day. After the shower we watched the sunset from the porch and enjoyed a very relaxing evening. Dean and Gavin finally passed out and slept the entire way home.
The trip was just what I needed before heading into spring testing season. We have TAKS this coming week followed by 2 glorious weeks of AP testing. I feel refreshed and ready to tackle life again. Best wishes Leslie. I know Wayne is going to love seeing all your new loot!
