It’s hard to say but I am now “over 30″ years old! My thirty first birthday was an awesome celebration. We began celebrating while home for spring break. My parents were sweet and hosted a family party complete with lunch and presents before Matt, Dean and I headed back to Ft. Worth. I miss not being home for the bi-weekly family dinners so the family time was greatly appreciated.
We celebrated my birthday at school with a taco salad lunch complete with chips and salsa. It was nice to have a relaxing lunch during the school day. The girls at work always know how to make a gal feel special on her birthday!
Matt and Dean worked hard to make my birthday special as well. On Friday Matt cooked a great dinner and we enjoyed a relaxing evening at home complete with MORE presents! And on Saturday I enjoyed a WONDERFUL day of pampering! My morning began with a massages followed by a manicure and pedicure and then time at home with my boys. We also arranged for “aunt” Glenda to baby sit for Dean Saturday evening so that Matt and I could enjoy a night out. We headed to the Kimball Art Museum to see their Art and Love exhibit followed by dinner at Taverna, in downtown Ft. Worth. Our dinner was amazing complete with my favorite treat – Crem Brule! After dinner we still had some time before we needed to get Dean so Matt and I walked down to the Flying Saucer and enjoyed a brew before heading home.
My 31st birthday was awesome! Too bad I have to wait a whole year before I can do it again!
Right after Dean’s 4 month appointment we headed to home to Humble for the week. Matt and I were looking forward to a nice break while the grandparents played with Dean. The week was just what we asked for. We were able to visit with family and friends, have a date, I shopped with my mom while Dean played with his Honey, and we rested while the grandmas took night time baby duty! The week was just what we needed.
Matt and I also learned an important lesson about naps on the day we travel to or from Houston. Don’t do it! Dean took a GREAT nap on Sunday afternoon before we headed back to Ft. Worth. We thought it was great that he slept so well. We learned on the way home that we should have kept him up all afternoon. Dean was tired of his car seat half way through our trip home and his cries told us all about it. We ended up taking an extended rest stop break (over an hour) so Dean could play, stretch, and eat. We will now be traveling late at night or early in the morning. Lesson learned!
We took Dean for his 4 month check up right before we headed home for Spring Break. We weren’t exactly sure if we’d be having a 4 month check up or an ear update when we arrived. Thankfully Dean was healthy so they proceeded with the exam. Dean is still our string bean – long and lean! Dean measured 25 inches in length (50-75th percentile), weighed 14 pounds (25-50th percentile) and his tiny noggin measured 16 1/4in (10-25 percentile). We were thankful to learn that Dean was healthy and right on track developmentally. We had already started rice cereal before the doctors appointment and got the go ahead to amp up the solid foods. Sweet Potatoes, Green beans here we come!
Dean’s become quite the verbal little boy. Like father like son I suppose. He was extra chatty once he saw me grab the camera. Here’s what he had to say.
