Dean’s 2 month check up
Today Dean and I went to visit Dr. McCoy for his 2 month check up. Dean had a great visit with the doctor. He weighed in at 11 pounds 14 ounces which places him in the 50% and he measured 24.5 inches long which places him in the 90%. We have a tall, thin baby, I know he doesn’t get those genes from me but I’m thankful that he’s on the tall side!
In addition to these stats they said Dean was very strong and wouldn’t be surprised if he started rolling over soon. I guess we better quit laying him on the couch with out a safety net. She also said that she thought Dean was going to be quite the talker due to the way he modulates his cry. We didn’t have to go to the doctor for her to tell me that the spawn of Matt and Lindsey Hopkins would be a talker. I’m sure we all could have guessed that! On the down side she did say that Dean would need to gain 4 or 5 pounds before he would be sleeping through the night. Geez, here’s where the benefit of a bigger baby is a bonus. I’m now researching ways to help him gain that 4 pounds pronto! I enjoy our time in the middle of the night but am definitely looking forward to 8 straight hours.
The visit ended with 2 shots. Dean did a terrific job handling the simultaneous sticks. He only cried for a moment and is now passed out next to me on the couch (sans safety net). Dean is doing new things every day. We look forward to sharing all of our experiences with you!

DO NOT feed that child cereal to get him to sleep. He will sleep all night when he is ready. Don’t rush it. Those days (or nights) don’t ever come back. Or if they do, they aren’t the same….TRUST ME!!!!!!!!!

Yes, no cereal in the near future! The doctor said he can start at about 4 months unless he has some weight issues.

I think he is doing just fine doing exactly with what you are doing. He could not be more perfect. Just look at the pictures, he is so at peace. Enjoy your cuddle time. I agree with Les, it will never come back. Loved his badges of honor.

Like we need someone else to tell us how perfect our little Dean is! Lindsey & Matt, you are amazing parents – it’s no wonder your baby is so healthy and happy. We are so proud of you all! Now, get a good night’s sleep!

I think Casey started sleeping through the night at like 4 months. We got into trouble when she found her feet and would stay up all night playing with them. Cereal did nothing for Casey…we thought it would help her sleep…fat chance!
Casey’s sleep habits changed 200% for the better when we started reading, “Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child.” Saved our lives from the kid who just wanted to stay up all night and cry! She turned into bad baby about about 10 weeks.
I love reading your blog. I am glad your visit went well!

Way to grow Dean! Please don’t grow up too much more until I get a chance to come meet you in person!
