“Daycare Schmaycare! Let’s go Daddy, I’m ready to make some new friends!”
Yesterday I had the proud honor of becoming Dean’s new chófer to school. We had a good time getting ready for his big first day. I think he’d agree that things went pretty smoothly all in all. We were both fed, changed, cleaned up, dressed, packed and out the door ahead of schedule. Nice work Dean!
We arrived at school and Dean couldn’t have been more chill about the whole thing. In fact, on the info sheet they have us fill out each morning, I wrote in “Chilled out” when it asked me about his current mood.
I have to admit I wasn’t as tough as I thought I would be. It was all I could do to hold back a tear or two as I was leaving and watching him being as content as a parent could hope for their child to be in a situation like this. I couldn’t have been more proud of my boy.
I can’t express how excited I am about having a work schedule that allows me to spend the mornings with Dean and to take him to school each day.

WOW! Are you back to work already? I can’t even remember when I went back to work. I think she was 6 weeks old. It was so soon! How do you like his day care? Being back at work?

Ok, so I didn’t mind when Casey went to day care and I went back to work…it was nice to be among the land of the living and to put on clothes and shoes, etc.
Hope you had a great day!

Yea, for a good first day. I’m sure it was hard to leave him. But I think it’s great that your schedules allow some Daddy/Son bonding time. I have to ask… did you pick out his outfit or did Lindsey pick it out for you? Looks great, and I’m sure you can pick out and outfit just fine Matt. Just wondering
. I always have to lay out clothes or else Patrick picks out non-matching things on purpose.
Hope the transition continues to go smoothly!

Awww, look at you boys! Congratulations, Matt – you’ve just aced your first test in graduate level “Time Management”! You know, Dad took you to school the first 3 years of your life and treasured your morning time together! You & Lindsey are such an awesome team for our little Dean!
