The Name Game

Posted in Baby Hopkins at 9:11 am by winz

We have names! Matt and I believe we have settled on a boy name and a girl name for baby hop. We are relieved and can’t wait to see which name we will use when BH arrives. We thought it would be a fun blog game to give you the initial letters (mixed up of course) and let you make your own guess. Post your thoughts in the comments section, there could be a prize for the one who comes the closest!

The letters you’ll need to use are A,M,T,D,H. We’ll even give you a hint…The H is for Hopkins! You figure out the rest! Have fun, we can’t wait to see what you think.

Sitting Pretty

When I got home from work yesterday I was greeted by a HUGE box on our door step (again I LOVE getting packages). The box was much to big for me to bring into the house but the contents were easily identifiable from the outside of the box…our glider had arrived! The chair came as a gift from Baby Hop’s Grammy & Pops. Matt immediately put it together and we had a great time rockin’ away through the presidential debate last night. Thanks Grammy & Pops!

Hopkins House, a 5-Star Evacuation Resort

Posted in Family Events at 10:32 am by winz

A luxurious retreat conveniently located just minutes from downtown Ft. Worth, The Hopkins House is the pinnacle of evacuation locations in North America.

The Hopkins House has 3 moderately comfortable bedrooms (air mattress sleeping offered at a discounted rate) , flexible lounging space (seating limited), 1 restaurants (commonly called The Kitchen), one backyard offering comfortable seating (dog may be rented for play, if so desired), a treadmill, and a world-class bathroom. The lush .5 acre is easily accessible, with non-stop fleeing from the throes of any hurricane threatening the Gulf Coast.

This past week we were able to provide the above luxurious accommodations for Matt’s family as they evacuated Houston and sought refuge in the Ft. Worth area. We had a wonderful 10 days with Grandma, Grandaddy, Ronny (Pops) and Carla (Grammy). There are tons of pictures that chronicle their stay at Hopkins House. Although I wish their stay was of 5-star resort quality I fear that the guests worked harder than the owners. Enjoy the pictures, they tell it all!

30 Week Update & plea for help

Posted in Baby Hopkins at 8:17 am by winz

Matt and I went to our 30 week appointment for Baby Hop yesterday. The appointment was wonderfully uneventful, a great heartbeat, awesome blood pressure for me, and enough weight gain to make me faint! Baby Hop is still a little big for his/her gestational age which means we’re looking at an 8 pounder (the doc estimates) but Matt and I were both good sized babies so it’s to be expected. Unfortunately there isn’t a correlation between my measurements and early delivers…bummer I was hoping to have a visit from the stork 3 weeks early! We are getting excited and with only about 10 weeks to go and are taking time to enjoy the simple life for a bit longer.

We need your help!!! We have managed to select a name if BH should happen to be a girl but are still at a loss for what to name a little boy. The doc said that definitely means it’s a boy! We need your help! Make suggestions please, you can leave any suggestions in the comments section…I mean it guys! come to our rescue, we need some ideas or else we may have a child named something crazy because we had to make a decision in haste before they would let us leave the hospital. If you don’t make suggestions you’ll be partly responsible for a child named Blanket Hopkins or Epi – dural Hopkins…and on and on… We can’t wait to see what you suggest.

Easily entertained

Posted in Jiff at 7:58 am by winz

In efforts to have an easier morning and watch Jiff a little less I’m always working to find something to keep him entertained while I get dressed. I know this puppy is EXCELLENT training for baby Hop and is putting my multi-tasking skills to the test. Well, this morning an empty lotion bottle seemed to do the trick. The pictures don’t do it justice but it was so funny to see Jiff running around with this large bottle in his mouth. He didn’t leave it behind for one second this AM, even took it outside to potty. He had to work so hard to get it into his mouth as it kept shooting across the floor which caused him to run after it (full speed no less) in order to “catch” his toy again. I’m learning, we don’t have to spend any money on dog toys there are plenty of options in own trashcan.
