Comps are over!!!
Praise the Lord! Comps are over! My graduate school comprehensive exams were 13 cumulative exams over each course I have taken while pursuing my counseling degree. It doesn’t sound so bad but also know that I took my first class in the spring of 2005…that’s a long time to remember some little details! It turned out the exams themselves were not that bad but preparing for them almost sent me to the loony bin! There was an enormous stack of information to review, remember, and learn (remember it’s been 3 years). Since I didn’t know exactly what would be on the test I felt the need to remember it all and studied for several weeks. When exam day finally arrived I was so ready for the test to be over I couldn’t wait to start. I had 4 hours to complete the exam, I managed to use all but 15 minutes of my time. I think I spent most of it praying for Divine Intervention and searching for answers I didn’t know. After the exam my grandparents took me out for a celebration dinner. I was in much need of some good Mexican food to re-energize before my drive back to Houston. God is so good and he answered prayers – I was elated when I got the email that I passed. Whew! Huge thanks to my pal Jennifer who lent me her old comps binder (the holy grail of the exam) to study for the test. I really would have been a nut case with out it. And another thanks to all of you prayer warriors out there. Now I can see graduation on the horizon. I’m looking forward to many study free days in my future.
