Tran Siberian Orchestra

Posted in Family Events, Holidays at 8:43 pm by winz

For Christmas Ronny & Carla gave us amazing tickets to the Tran Siberian Orchestra. On Thursday, December 27th, we went with Ronny and Carla to the afternoon TSO concert. After an amazing Asian lunch in downtown Houston we headed over to the Toyota center to get settled in for the concert. We had terrific floor seats for the concert but had no idea about the show we were about to be in for! The three hours, yes almost three hour, concert consisted of a brilliant display of pyrotechnics, fantastic light displays, as well as amazing music. The vocalists and musicians for the TSO are truly gifted and were a sight to see. Matt figures they must have all pounded a 6 pack of red bull each to have enough energy to get though the show. Thank you Ronny & Carla for such a nice gift, we enjoyed the show and spending the afternoon with you both.

Christmas

Hopkins

Matt and I were truly blessed this Christmas and had a terrific time with our family and friends. We celebrated Christmas on Sunday evening with the Hopkins. Adam and Genie were going to be spending Christmas Day with her family so we celebrated early so they could get on the road. To start our evening we were treated to a wonderful dinner of Steak and lobster, so yummy. After we were all stuffed we opened presents, presents and more presents! We all received gifts from Europe and Scotland, beautiful crosses and jewelry! Matt and I also got coffee mugs and gift cards for Adam and Genie – Matt says it’s the best coffee mug ever! But our big gifts were an ipod nano for me – in green and a twinkie one for Genie in blue – in our wedding colors!!! And a Nintendo Wii for Matt (well…and for me b/c I had the fever). We were so excited about the Wii!

After opening all the gifts wii had to play with the wii so wii could show all the family how much fun it is! Wii enjoyed a fun night of wii sports! It was a blast! Thanks Ronny & Carla, Mom & Dad for such a great Christmas!

Yeager’s

Christmas morning Matt and I were up bright and early in order to get to my parents house by 9 AM for breakfast and presents. Santa visited our apartment, even though we don’t have a chimney, and left some great gifts for Matt and me. So, after enjoying a moment of Christmas for the two of us we headed over for the fun. The day began with breakfast and then presents for the little ones! We LOVE watching Ems, Mo and Lo open their gifts…it’s the highlight of our day. The kids are so into the day and love getting the smallest thing. After all the kids opened their gifts we got to open ours. Matt and I were surprised with great gifts again. He was super stocked for work – clothes, briefcase, mighty mouse for his Mac, wallet, and belt… anything he needed to move from student to professional. I think he’s set to be in the real world now. I on the other hand had a G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S (sing it like Fergie) holiday. I got some great sun glasses, a new handbag, gift cards, and a piece of furniture! I was so surprised by my new hutch! I had no idea it was coming. My mom had heard my cries for my storage in our new apartment and knew I wanted a hutch (half of my dishes are still packed away). They found the perfect pieced that fully captures what we desire for our house to look like when we get outta the apartment and start buying new furniture. It’s our goal piece! Now I can’t wait to fill it up with my gorgeous white dishes!

Again our day was filled with Wii fun! We brought the wii over to the house so that the family could play and it turned in to the fun of the day. Santa had brought Matt 2 more games so we had plenty of fun to go around. Even mom, dad, and Pop got into the fun.

After a great time at my parent’s house Matt and I were invited over to “wine” down with Lesley and Travis. We had a great time on Christmas night playing Travis & Lesley’s gift of guitar hero and drinking wine for hours! I think Matt and I know what we’re going to be saving our money for next! I can’t say that I’m a rock star but we sure had a good time. It was a perfect end to a fun day.

Matt and I are extremely blessed and thankful for such a wonderful holiday season. We love you all Merry Christmas!

School fun – Christmas week

Posted in Friends, Holidays at 3:03 pm by winz

The last week of school before the holiday break was a busy one.  I made sure to make the time pass quickly by goofing off at school and attending plenty of parties at night!  Anything I could do to pass the time while Matt was away. J

In order to ensure that the teachers survived the last week of school the counselors and principals teamed up to provided surprises for the school faculty each day.  We had a great time playing Santa and the elves to the faculty.  We passed out cokes and candy to their classrooms while caroling through the school, not only did the teachers loves the treat but the students enjoyed the “break”.  On Thursday afternoon the PTA planned a great lunch for us complete with a Rodeo roundup for the principals to participate in.  It was hilarious to see our leaders roping cows and barrel racing!  The pictures don’t do it justice but it’s quite funny.

After all the work at school I enjoyed attending a social with some of the middle school counselors at Katryn’s house.  We had a great time relaxing and discussing the upcoming break.  I also managed to pick up a few new recipes for terrific food and yummy drinks!  After the counselor party Jana and I headed to our next party for the Administrative team of AMS.  Our building principal, Thyrun, hosted the party at his house.  It was a wonderful evening of Mexican food (my favorite), gifts (thanks Kathy for the beautiful Jim Shore angel), and games (one outta control Taboo game).

Finally school is out and the holiday break can begin!  Hello Christmas!!!

Family Day – Snow Day & Ginger bread house

Posted in Family Events, Holidays at 3:01 pm by winz

On December 16th we had a jam packed family day with my family.   The day began with church, a Sunday school party and then we headed back to the church for SNOW DAY.  Layne, Amanda, Lesley and Travis all loaded up the babies and brought them to the church to play in the snow. Morgan and Emma enjoyed touching and playing with the cold icy snow while Logan observed from afar.  It may not have been the ideal white Christmas experience but it did provide a little fun for the holiday.

After playing in the snow we headed back to my parents house for lunch and then gingerbread fun!  Each year growing up it was a tradition in my house to decorate a homemade gingerbread house.  Well, now that Morgan and Emma are old enough to enjoy the fun Grandmother couldn’t wait to start the tradition again.  This year she purchased a premade house and let the girls have at the decorating.  It was a blast to see Mo and Ems go at it.  The food network will be calling them in about 20 years to be on the gingerbread challenge.  Emma enjoyed sampling each piece of candy before placing it on the house, all slobbery and slimy – yep right on the house fresh from her mouth.  Morgan meticulously placed each piece on the house as if creating her masterpiece.  It was great to see the two girls work so well together in such different ways.  The pictures are priceless, make sure to look at them.

Dinner for Genie’s B Day

Posted in Family Events at 2:56 pm by winz

For Genie’s birthday (Matt’s brother’s fiancé) Ron and Carla treated the whole family to an amazing dinner at Chez Nous, a five star French restaurant in Humble.  We enjoyed amazing food and terrific conversation during our three and a half hour dinner.  We sampled great appetizers, as well as steak, shrimp and awesome desserts.  We ordered 4 separate deserts and shared them all, they were each splendid!  Matt and I love Genie and are excited that she is joining the Hopkins family but on this night we were really thankful for her birthday!
