Matt and Lindsey’s First Christmas
Matt and Lindsey’s First Christmas
On Christmas Eve we celebrated Matt’s Grandmother’s birthday with a special brunch in her honor. It was a great way to start Christmas and a nice morning with his parents and grandparents. After the brunch and a relaxing afternoon Matt and I attended Christmas Eve services at AUMC and enjoyed a wonderful reunion with all of our church friends. It was so nice to see all of the people we were so close to when we lived in Humble. We were even able to see some high school friends like Scott Diess, Amanda Kracht Richards and her 6 month old baby Chloe – what a beautiful baby!
Christmas day was a whole new experience for Matt and me. The Yeager household was in full swing by 8AM. We were hoping to have gifts opened before the babies needed to be down for their morning naps. Everyone enjoyed watching Morgan and Emma open their gifts and play with their toys. It was so much fun having babies around and toys to play with. There were so many toys; I found out that have so much to learn about the latest trends for infants. After opening gifts, playing with the girls, and eating lunch at our house Matt and I headed for a quieter house. We arrived at the Hopkins in time to do it all over again on a much quieter and more adult scale! We had a great time opening gifts with Grandma, Granddaddy, Ronny and Carla. We also were able to enjoy a true Texas Christmas dinner of ribs, potato salad and beans – so yummy! Matt and I were truly blessed with such a great Christmas. We are thankful that we had the opportunity to spend time with our families on such an occasion.
The day after Christmas Matt and I had made plans to go see the Houston Ballet’s Nutcracker with Jeremy, Crystal and Andrew McReynolds. We ate lunch at the Spaghetti Warehouse followed by the matinee performance of the ballet. It was Matt’s first trip to the ballet and he loved it. We had wonderful seats and were truly in awe of the talent displayed on stage. It was so much fun to share the ballet with such good friends. After the performance Andrew had fun playing with the giant rats, talking to the soldiers and taking pictures with the nutcrackers. We thought the Nutcracker was a great way to spend the day after Christmas.
We also had the opportunity to eat lunch with Kelly and Stuart Sampley while we were home for Christmas. Matt and I were thrilled to meet their 5 month old daughter Murphy and share a lunch at Pappasitos. It was so much fun to catch up, hear about life in Austin and life with Murphy. We plan to keep in close contact with Stuart and Kelly in case we should end up back in Texas one day.
